FOCUS Grows to 11 New CampusesWe are excited to announce that FOCUS will be sending teams of missionaries to three California campuses for the upcoming academic year: the University of California – Berkeley, the University of California – Santa Barbara, and the University of Southern California. With the largest population of college students in the US at some of America’s most important and influential universities, California is “truly fertile ground for the New Evangelization,” said Joe Hensler, Vice President of Collegiate Outreach. “California is a center of Catholic life and cultural influence for our entire nation. It is an honor to serve [at these three universities] and we are most grateful to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the Diocese of Oakland, and the chaplains at these schools for their invitation to join them in outreach.” “One of the most exciting things is the potential USC holds for the rest of California,” said Andrew Dennis, Team Director at USC. “As the current Catholic center staff and the FOCUS missionaries work together, I pray we impact every area of the campus; from athletes and Greeks to international and film students." Our overall expansion will include 8 additional campuses, totaling 11 new campus teams for the 2013-14 year:
In total, FOCUS missionaries will be serving on 83 campuses, including the Digital Campus. Last year, Digital Campus missionaries worked with more than 50 students from over 40 campuses that did not have localized FOCUS missionaries. FOCUS staff just completed training at Ave Maria University, and will spend the next several weeks developing their mission support teams before reporting to their assigned campuses for the fall semester. For a complete list of the campuses FOCUS serves, see our campus map.
