SEEK the Experience
FOCUS is excited to announce a new mini-series on the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) set to air later this month. Last January, our national conference, SEEK 2013, drew a crowd of more than 6,000 people to Orlando for an amazing five-day experience, and we are pleased to share that experience with you! On October 28th, 29th, and 30th, these three episodes will air on EWTN beginning at 6:30 PM Eastern Time. The shows will feature footage from SEEK, and follows the faith journey of five college students and their unique experiences throughout the conference. Perhaps you have heard some of the testimonies that have come from FOCUS events. We wanted to not simply talk about the powerful impact that the Lord can bring about through these gatherings, but also to SHOW the unique ways that He is bringing about change in the lives of real people. These events have the opportunity to change a person’s life forever, to affect the course and tone of someone’s entire existence, which echoes in the realm of eternity. SEEK 2013 took place in Orlando, Florida from January 2-6. It was an energetic, joyful gathering that included keynote talks, men’s and women’s sessions, daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Confession, and the chance to hang out with friends new and old from across the country – all in the stunningly beautiful setting of the Swan & Dolphin Resort.
As Catholic-Christians, we know that the goal of our searching is not a thing, but a Person, Jesus Christ, who is Himself "the way and the truth and the life." (Jn 14:6) SEEK was a powerful moment of encounter, an opportunity for young people to meet the Living God in the Sacraments, in the truth proclaimed, in the joy of life, and in His presence in other believers. The next SEEK conference will take place in January 2015 at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee, where we expect over 8,000 participants. The name SEEK comes from Matthew 7:7: “Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” The theme of this particular event was “What Moves You” – which is both an evocative question and a statement. We sought to give college students the chance to ask themselves these questions: What moves you? What drives and motivates you? What is it that your heart is seeking?
