FOCUS on 100 Campuses, 19 New Ones This Year

“I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled!” (Lk 12:49)

Jesus said it. He came to set fire to planet Earth. God desires to ignite a metaphorical fire, a blaze in the heart of every people. God has blessed FOCUS in our desire to reach more souls. In the coming year we’ll be on 100 campuses with 19 new ones, including Texas A&M University, the University of Missouri-Columbia, the University of Maine, and San Diego State University.

FOCUS feels a calling and responsibility to reach as many people as possible, that the life-giving Gospel of Christ may reach the world, starting with university students in America.

“We’re excited that God has provided us with the resources and ability to begin serving at so many new campuses this fall,” said Joe Hensler, Vice President of Collegiate Outreach for FOCUS. "We know there is a great hunger to know Jesus Christ on colleges and universities across the country, and so we are very grateful for the bishops and chaplains who have invited us to join them in ministry, and for the more than 400 men and women who have answered God’s call to serve as FOCUS campus missionaries this year.”

FOCUS’s expansion to each campus is the result of prayer, dialogue, and hard work by chaplains, bishops, benefactors, and FOCUS staff.  One example of this collaboration is at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where an initial meeting in Columbia led to “Mizzou” student and clergy participation at FOCUS’s SEEK 2013 Conference. This led to a formal invitation for FOCUS to come to Missouri this fall.

Catching fire is why FOCUS exists. God has called us to live out this mission of proclaiming this good . . . this GREAT news! The soul needs union with God like the lungs need air. It’s the only way the human person can function at its full potential. We’re excited to expand for this year, and we look forward to future growth and opportunities to share the gospel with thousands of college students.
